wrapping herself in blankets. she died sunday. she had heart failure and breast cancer. >> i don't think it was necessarily a surprise for us but it still is stunning and shocking to lose someone who really was very much a part of our zoo family for years. >> reporter: tallulah was the oldest animal at the zoo in her mid-50s and it lived there the longest. her death is hard on staff who say she had a strong connection with humans. before coming here, she had been raised as a pet. >> she was a very intelligent chimpanzees. she had a personality that was larger than life. >> reporter: her loss a surprise to visitors, met with her picture and announcement of her passing outside the chimp exhibit. >> that's really sad. we come here all the time. >> reporter: the other chimps have also been here since the 1960s. they have been acting quieter than normal in her absence. zoo staff say although they're sad she's gone, she left behind a legacy. tallulah was instrumental in resome on geriatric animals and inspired the zoo to implement techniques to impr

a lovely spring day. don't let this picture deceive you. it's definitely winter. check the current temperatures right now. this is actually the view from mount vaca. you can see the golden gate bridge from mount vaca out there now. temperatures we are seeing a lot of mid- to upper 40s. oakland 50, san jose 51. these temperatures are going to continue to plunge in the overnight hours. we are tracking the latest rainfall with hi-def doppler. not a whole lot. any activity is off the coast or in the santa cruz mountains and heading south towards monterey. we saw a slight dusting of snow near highway 9 and skyline boulevard. that's where our news crews picked up video of very light white stuff in that area. but now we're focused on this, the cold temperatures. temperatures in the 20s and 30s, freeze warnings and frost advisories posted from 2 to 8 in the morning on friday. so overnight for the morning commute, it is going to be cold so this is what we're talking about mainly in the north bay the east bay valleys. 27 degrees overnight in livermore so
